In addition to XCEL’s requirements, our WIRE EDM department also does outside contract work. This department operates around the clock when necessary. We use ESPRIT wire software and our Mitsubishi machines can handle up to 21" x 23" x 10" workpiece.
XCEL Mold employs Journeyman Tool and Die Makers to operate and program our CNC machines. This allows XCEL to utilize and fully benefit from at-the-machine programming. The CNC department works first shift and runs “lights out” where possible on second shift. With our software consisting of Mastercam and Work NC, we are capable of machining the simplest 2D to the most complex 3D surfaced and solid model geometry.
Our 2,400 sq. ft. sinker EDM department is serviced by a 1-ton crane, and is equipped with conventional and CNC EDM machines. This department works two 10-hour shifts and is always capable of performing outside contract work. Our electrodes are all made in house with conventional, CNC, and high-speed graphite cutting machines.
XCEL’s Engineering/Tool Design Department has many years of experience designing custom molds and dies to our customer spec’s. Our tool designers utilize Pro-Engineer, Mechanical Desktop, and Auto-Cad. Our CAD stations are also capable of translating numerous other file formats.
